It’s the most wonderful time of the year. It’s can also be one of the most expensive time of the year as well! There is no proper Christmas celebration that doesn’t have a Christmas tree present, but those can be expensive! At home, we recycled our years old Christmas tree and decorations each year. Now that I moved out, I almost died of sticker shock! Christmas trees can be expensive! But with a little ingenuity and searching, I have managed to come up with a beautiful Christmas tree set-up for less than $50! Tree, decorations, lights, everything!

1. Christmas Tree

The most important part of this article, is obviously the tree! I found my little gem at Home Depot for $39.99! It’s a 6.5′ pre-lit tree, making it an absolute breeze to set up. Having a pre-lit thing was a convenience thing for me, it just cuts out a whole step out of the Christmas tree set-up! I couldn’t find my exact tree online, but this is a close match! I’m sure if you visit the actual Home Depot store you might have better luck.

2. Lights (Optional)

Some of your must be wondering: wasn’t the tree pre-lit? What do you need lights for?!

The lights were not necessary. I bought extra lights because, well, I’m an adult child and I wanted an over-the-top brightly lit tree. So I ended up buying the Tree Dazzler! I love this thing. I got it for ten dollars at Walmart, and it’s worth every penny. It’s a ring that you place over the top of your tree, and then the strings of lights drape down, all you have to do is arrange them how you like! I personally love the idea, and the colorful lights remind me of Christmas as a child! There’s tons of light show modes and lots of bright colors to choose from!

3. Ornaments

I have to admit, Christmas decorations are expensive! But for this one, the Dollar Tree has got your back! I bought all of my Christmas baubles for less than $10. They actually have ornament 10-packs! I bought 3 of those, some beautiful white garland to wrap around my tree, and a couple of ‘single’ ornaments that  were really cute and gave my tree a more personalized look!
